Johanne Acosta | Family Partnership Program Coordinator

Johanne Acosta was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico and has two older siblings. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce and a Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance at the Pontifical Catholic University. Mrs. Acosta and her husband (along with Oakley their Boston Terrier) decided to start a new endeavor. Leaving the Caribbean behind, they moved to Texas to embark on new professional opportunities.

Mrs. Acosta accepted a position with Dallas ISD as a bilingual, 1st grade Spanish teacher. The following year she served as a bilingual substitute teacher in Plano ISD. Working inside the classroom helped her acclimate to the education system in Texas. As Admissions Coordinator with Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep, Mrs. Acosta has found tremendous satisfaction with the engagement she’s able to have with students and families, especially teaching them how to believe in themselves in the same way her own family encouraged her.

Throughout Mrs. Acosta’s life, her family always prioritized the need for a college education. She considers her parents and husband to be her greatest supporters, as her mother is always praying for her and her siblings. Mrs. Acosta truly believes that education is something for which you pay but actually makes you richer and that everything is possible with God’s help.

Mrs. Acosta enjoys supporting students and families. She plans to finish her Professional Counselor Certification in Texas and continue her education by pursuing her doctoral degree in Psychology in the near future.
