Claire Collins grew up in Burlingame, CA and went to St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco. She attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, where she majored in English and minored in Spanish. At Whitman, she was an All-American swimmer, a senator for student government, and an active member of her sorority.
Upon graduation, Ms. Collins taught middle school language arts in South Los Angeles at St. Michael’s School. As the 7th grade homeroom teacher, she immersed herself in school activities, such as planning the talent show, coaching volleyball and basketball, and leading an afterschool reading program for advanced readers. She received her Master's of Education through University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education.
Ms. Collins believes that literature can promote empathy and justice, and she looks forward to seeing her students grow into critical thinkers. She is excited to be a part of the Cristo Rey Dallas family of students, parents and faculty.
In her free time, Ms. Collins enjoys swimming, bike riding, and running. Favorite indoor activities include reading and cooking new recipes. She is excited to explore Texas, especially since her brother is completing a year of service with Jesuit Volunteer Corps in San Antonio.
