Celina Basaldu | Student and Family Social Worker

Celina Basaldu serves as the Student and Family Social Worker for Cristo Rey Dallas. Ms. Basaldu was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, located in south Texas. She attended Baylor University graduating with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work and is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Texas. She had several internships including Scott & White hospital in Temple, Texas, providing case management in the Transplant Department, and serving at Catholic Charities-Fort Worth. At CCFW, she served in various departments including Clinical Counseling, Victims of Human Trafficking and Refugee Resettlement & Placement.
 

After graduation in the spring of 2013, Ms. Basaldu served as a campus minister at SMU Catholic Campus Ministry.  As a campus minister, she organized international and local mission trips, planned and implemented retreat, and aided students in navigating faith in college. In the winter of 2016, Ms. Basaldu joined CRD to provide social and emotional counseling to students and families. In her time at CRD she hopes to walking alongside, advocate, and empower students and families as they work to reach overall wellness in academic, work and everyday life.

Ms. Basaldu is the youngest of two. Her older brother, also a Baylor grad, lives in Washington D.C. while her parents reside in Brownsville, TX. Ms. Basaldu enjoys quality moments with family and friends, spending time in a hammock at White Rock Lake, creating gifts and baking for friends and making time for prayer.
